Home Health Aide (HHA)

Skilled Care

The Skilled Care Home Health Aide is assigned to a specific client who is acutely ill and assistance is required in following a therapeutic plan of care prescribed by the physician. The aide is given written instructions for care of the client by the registered nurse. The aide will be carefully trained and closely supervised by the nurse to assure competence in proving care.

Homemaker 

A Homemaker is employed and assigned by this agency to assist qualified clients with household duties. Homemaking services do not include medically oriented personal care tasks. The homemaker works under the direct supervision of the license nurse or other designated employee assigned to the client. Job responsibilities vary between programs and may include some or all of the duties listed below. Specific duties for each client will be designated on the work plan.

Personal Care

The personal care aide is qualified person who is employed and assigned by this Agency to assist qualified clients with personal care, and limited household task which allow the client to remain in his/her home as long as possible. The registered nurse assigns the aide according to the physician prescribed plan of care, and supervises the aide in providing such care to the client.

Skilled Care

• Perform simple procedures as an extension of therapy services under the close supervision of the therapist.
• Perform or assist client with personal care.
• Assist client with ambulation and exercise.
• Perform household services that are necessary for health care and safety at home.
• Report changes in client's condition or home situation to staff nurse or supervisor.
• Prepare nutritious meals as assigned. Assist patient in understanding special  diet instructions.

Homemaker

• Light housekeeping, dusting, vacuuming, mopping, cleaning bathroom, kitchen fixtures, wash inside windows and sweep sidewalk.
• Laundry: wash, dry or hang out, and fold.
• Assistance with shopping.
• Meal preparation.
• Complete necessary records and turn them in to staff nurse as instructed.

Personal Care

• Assistance with personal hygiene- bath, grooming, dressing.
• Planning and preparation of meals, and assistance with eating as needed.
• Assistance with mobility/transfer, getting in and out of bed or chair, and/or walking.

• Minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Reading, writing and comprehension skills.
• Strong communication skills.
• Motor Vehicle Insurance
• Valid Driver's License
